[Exclusive Interview] YG’s YANG HYUN SUK Says, “BOBBY and iKON have grown so much. I have high expectations for them.” ikon-global: [OSEN=최나영 기자] YG Entertainment CEO YANG HYUN SUK talks about his expectations for BOBBY and iKON. For the first time ever, YANG HYUN SUK talked publicly about BOBBY’s solo debut album, which will be released today on September 14. BOBBY’s solo debut album “LOVE AND FALL” will be released at 6 PM today. It’s been three years since BOBBY debuted as a member of iKON, and the solo album conveys BOBBY’s real story. At the press conference, BOBBY said, “I’ve been sending new songs to Mr. Yang continuously, and that’s why I was able to release a regular album.” In response to what BOBBY said, YANG HYUN SUK smiled and commented, “He only says that because he is humble.” He went on to say, “If YG artists get to release an album just because they sent me many songs, people wouldn’t talk about YG’s jewel box.” This shows that BOBBY was able to release an album because his music is great, and there is no other reason. “l listened to all the songs in BOBBY’s album more than 100 times when I was helping him make his solo album”, demonstrating how much effort he has put in BOBBY’s new album. He went on to say, “Personally, I think all the songs are fresh and great. It’s a great album. It was like watching a drama seeing BOBBY change and grow as he ages. BOBBY’s solo debut album is like an interesting and fun page in the book of BOBBY.” YANG HYUN SUK added, “The most interesting part of BOBBY’s solo album is that the music is totally different from his music in Show Me The Money and as an iKON member. He proved his potential as a rapper on Show Me The Money, and the several years he spent as an iKON member was time needed for him to establish his position within the team.” He praised BOBBY saying, “He released his solo debut album in three years, it’s the first time that an artist in YG released a solo album that has ten tracks since BIGBANG. Most YG male group members can write songs. I’m not saying that this is the right way, but it is true that the groups that can write their own songs become stronger as time goes by because their music improves and grows too as times goes by.” “Some people think BIGBANG debuted with ‘LIES’, but they are wrong. You get better when you go on stage more. So, writing and releasing as many songs as possible is a good opportunity that does not come by easily. Whether the song succeeds or not depends on the timing.” He went on to say, “Personally, I think BOBBY’s new album exceeds my expectations. I want to tell him to work harder rather than to praise him”, which show how much he cares for BOBBY. Lastly, YANG HYUN SUK SAID, “I say this once again, but whether a song succeeds or not is not the most important thing. They are happy because they are doing music that they like. If many people can identify with their music, I’m sure it will make them very happy. It’s like complementing the chef after eating at his restaurant. I want to give a big applause to BOBBY, and check out iKON’s new album which will come out soon.” © YG LIFE
